Kat Tansey is an award-winning author and innovative educator who believes in the power of a well-told tale to teach while it entertains.

Choosing to Be is a deceptively simple story that delivers a powerful message for all who are better at “doing” than “being.” The value of meditation is clearly demonstrated by Kat and her feline Zen master in this entertaining read, written with love and a nice dose of humor along the way.

The mission of Choosing to Be
is to promote the practice of slowing down and learning to be still. By doing this, we become more aware of the world we are creating in our minds – and this awareness allows us to make more mindful choices about how we live our lives.

Many people today are becoming human “doing” machines. Stress, burnout, depression, and chronic illness are taking their toll. And stress is hurting not only our health, it is shutting down our creativity, at a time when what we need most is creative thinking.

I believe that practicing some form to meditation is of utmost importance in today's fast-paced wireless 24/7 world. One of the most important steps in learning to meditate is to find a teacher and a group of people to support you in your practice. This is where Facebook can help.

Share our Facebook page with your friends and hang out here to meet other like-minded individuals. You can trade resources and ideas and build your own support group by getting to know the other people who come here.

I encourage you to use the Question Box to ask any questions you have about learning to meditate, slowing down, becoming mindful, and other related topics.

We are here to celebrate Being. Without it, there is little joy in Doing.

Mindfully yours,
Kat Tansey
