The Fine Line (http://editorial-consultancy.co.uk) is compiling an e-book anthology on the theme of words that inspire.

If you’d like to be considered for inclusion, we’re looking for short pieces, no longer than 100 words, in any genre or style about words that have inspired you.

Whether it’s something everyday like the line on a shampoo bottle that reminds you to rinse your hair after you lather or a novel that…

Campaign Against The Use Of Pornography In The Sun Newspaper - Please Sign The Petition

Posted on July 26, 2011 at 11:30am 0 Comments

I'm involved in a campaign called Turn Your Back On Page 3, against the exploitation of women's bodies by the media in order to sell newspapers and magazines. Because it is seen as a cultural icon, we're specifically targeting Page 3 in The Sun. If you're not familiar with it, every day The Sun prints a picture of a woman naked or topless on page three. As an image the Page Three Girl symbolises not only the acceptance and normalisation of pornography within our daily newspapers but the…

La Niña, Urban Fairytales Book One: Paper Doll

The Urban Fairytales Book Two: Love Story

Sarah C Bell is the boldest writer and artist I’ve ever come across. Largely autobiographical, her work is brave, luscious, hilarious, naughty, sexy, graphic, riveting, poignant and, most of all, honest. It’s this honesty – along with her remarkable artistic talent, humour, and inventiveness – that gives an…

Perfect Weekend (and writers wanted)

Posted on May 13, 2011 at 9:00am 0 Comments

I just had this piece published by Lady Adventurer, a terrific site for travel writing for independent travellers. They're looking for people to share their perfect weekends. You don't have to be a travel writer to do so - there's a link on the page so you just need to get in touch with them and tell them how you'd spend a perfect weekend wherever you live. It's great fun - even if it's a weekend you've only dreamt of - and it's all another way of getting your name out there!…

Lecture by Kate Gould, author of Exposing Phallacy: An Exploration of Flashing in Contemporary Culture at Taylorian Institute

May 1, 2012 from 5:30pm to 6:30pm
A sexual climate consumed by display ought to be ideal for men and women who flash, yet their actions are taboo and illegal. While others flirt with the accoutrements of romance and sexiness for lovers, flashers confront the spectator with sex organs. They ask no consent, baring the genitals of which they are so proud, convinced their spectators will desire them. But they rarely do. Instead, they are more likely to object to the imposition of the male flasher and leer at the female flasher.…See More

Hi Kate,
Thanks for the heads up for The Fine Line Short Story competition in the NaNoWriMo group. As I'm working my way through my NaNo WIP placing hashtags between scenes I find some of the sections could be made into short stories. I'm not a short story writer mind you. So this is quite a discovery. Will see if I'll get to crafting something before the deadline.
Best, Judith
PS I would love to see the book and affiliations you mention in your profile Q&A as hyperlinks so it's easy to click on.

Here is what I could find out about voting for Colleen Green on the roses of prose website.

For anyone new to our New Rose Contest, here's a recap. Throughout the next few weeks, we will be letting you decide which author you would like to become our new Friday Rose! Every week day between now and next Friday, we will feature one author who has submitted a blurb about why they should be our new Friday Rose. Voting will take place the last week of December so be sure to check back every week until the new year!
I hope this helps!!!1
