Who am I
A young, aspiring sociologist who has put pen to paper for feminism for several years now. I specialise in writing about gender and the work-family interface, as well as gender in virtual space (i.e. video gaming, the Internet, et cetera).
It's hard to say where my feminist writing ends and my academic writing begins sometimes-- and that is as it should be, in my view. But the more 'purely' academic writing tends to have work & family, and virtual space as a focus, whereas my more openly polemic writing takes on a variety of topics. I've written about transgender feminism; the politics of race, sexuality, and gender identity; feminist history; brief dips into lit crit; personal reflections; video game reviews; and there's an article planned wherein I ramble about how much I love semicolons. With lots of semicolons therein.
I love the written word and being strident with it. My cheesy high school yearbook quote was "My keyboard is my sword"-- I hope my prose has improved since then but the sentiment remains very much the same.
