From Seed Words #3:“Why are the clouds upside down?” I look at the lift of sky, searching for the source of her confused view, where the gates of ascent and summit meet terminal ground. Who I am:
I am a Chicago-born writer and teacher living in the Los Angeles area. I have my M.A. in English from the University of California, Irvine. I was also the 2004 recipient of the Music Center’s Bravo Award in Los Angeles. I have had work published in The Edith Wharton Review, ReadWriteThink.org, and edible Los Angeles. Most recently, I was a featured blogger on YES! Magazine's online site for No Impact Week. I also have poetry forthcoming in the anthology entitled The Poetry of Yoga.

I am also a yoga teacher, a doodle-artist, an iPhoneographer, an active gardener and a wanna-be urban homesteader. Having grown up in Chicago, where I watched my father toil to bury his fig tree during the winter months, I am especially in awe of my arugula and Swiss chard, who laugh in the face of wind and hail.

Hi Kathy and welcome to She Writes!  We are so glad you are here.  If you need help getting started, take a look at our very helpfully named "Getting Started" page, and don't forget to browse the very popular Groups.  You can start your own if you don't see one that suits your particular interest, though at this time there are more than 250 to choose from.

Enjoy, and warm best,

Kamy (Founder, She Writes)
