D.L., thanks for reaching out (and sorry for the slow response).  I actually just use SheWrites as a teacher and life coach for writers-- trying to maintain a boundary between this and my work as an editor.  Good luck with your novel,…

Lauren, I'm so glad you found me!  I was just thinking about you recently while looking for a new volunteering opportunity and thinking back on everything that happened with the Help Line.  What are you up to these days?

Hi Holly! I believe Mediabistro will use the sample you submit to determine whether or not they feel you're a good fit for this class. I don't exactly know, though, as they handle that part of the process, so you can ask them if you want…

Hi, Kendra! I just signed up for your YA class starting in January ... really looking forward to it! I don't know if you'd remember me, but we were paired up last year at Rutgers. I'm going to be working on that same manuscript (The Funeral Singer), which I'd shelved for a while. You were such a help as I tried to get "unstuck." I am really psyched to have a chance to get your input now as I move forward with it!

I have one quick question: I'm going to be on travel the day of the very first lecture (January 12) . I should be able to get online, but wondered how it works. Is it necessary to be "live" at the lectures or are those saved online for to be read at any time during the week?

Thanks, and I hope you have a wonderful holiday season. January will be here before we know it!

I would like to; really I would! Right now, though, my family and I are supposed to be going on vacation in about a week. A vacation, might I add, that we still have to pay for. In addition, we have the kids' school clothes and supplies to buy, etc. Never enough time or money, ya know! Always the same old story!! I'd really love it but I am stuck in that proverbial rut of putting everyone else's needs ahead of my own...but that's a Mom's story and I'm a Mom who loves every minute of it!!! Maybe one of these days, right!?!!

Hey, how was New Zealand??!!! Seems like eons ago. Thank you for the invite to She Writes. I am staying with my daughter Casey who just moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Met with a group of writers last night at Trattoria Dopo Teatro, and an agent and editor also joined us. This is one of many planned outings to NYC restaurants by SCBWI. I am learning how to smooze. For a Sicilian woman, it can be daunting, as I lead with my soul.

Dear Kendra,
Just wanted to say hello and welcome to SHE WRITES! I have welcomed several playwrights in the last few days; hopefully you can find each other here. Also very active community of children's book authors...do you know Kathryn Gordon (formerly at S&S in marketing)? She is a friend and also here at SHE WRITES.

Warm best and more soon,
Kamy
