Generosity, Guilt, and Gratitude

I found a $100 bill on the sidewalk the other day. It was drizzling on a damp winter evening, and I had just exited the doors of Walgreens. I turned the corner, and that's when I found it: a hundred dollar bill. I think I was bending down and picking it up before the conscious part of my brain even realized how spectacularly awesome this was, let alone what were the chances of stumbling on a bill that big.“Oh wow!” A voice rang out above me just as my fingers were grasping the wet paper. I…See More

I haven't been on SheWrites much lately.  Been busy doing my own "thang" I suppose.  I'm curious as to what my SheWrites friends are up to, writing-wise, though.  Right now, I'm waiting to hear back from 2 agents who have requested my full manuscript of The Time Minders.  I'm still working on Kingdoms of Blood & Magic, but not as diligently as I should, since I've been querying/submitting for the TTM, doing scads of tutoring at my daughters' school and work for our church's youth group.  How about YOU?

Thank you for your insightful blog. I always need to hear that it is just plain 'o.k.' to want to do more than what the world expects of me as a wife and mother. However, what  I expect from myself is the big question, and you phrased how I feel perfectly. I have a tiny blog on my page that touches the subject, but nothing compared to the level of intelligence you put into this piece. I loved the "hustlin" and was nodding, talking out loud to my computer screen;)Somehow finding value in my own dreams while fostering the dreams of my family is where I get stuck. Knowing that other women are walking along beside me up that hill...more fun to walk with a partner than alone. Answer to the question, I don't feel I am a Girl Friday because I am struggling to feel like I do atleast one job really well.
