The Folly of Heartbreak

Heartbreak doesn't discriminate, its only folly is loss. It preys on happiness, security and love, and strives to take them away. Sometimes you know heartache has been lurking beside you, lying in wait, but not unseen. Sometimes, it strikes out of nowhere without even a hint of its existence, attacking lovers, friends, families, parents, and even the most innocent of children.I learned to roller skate during the heart of its heyday, when I was a pig-tailed, bright-eyed child of the 1970s.The…See More

About Me

I'm just another broad who thinks she has a story to tell, I suppose. But seriously....

I'm a writer and essayist with a largely self-depreciating, nostalgic, and tongue-in-cheek style. I write about things that are happening around me now--especially the ironic, poignant, or particularly odd. I also write about my childhood quite extensively and try to do so in a way that is familiar to my readers whether they find a bit of themselves--or someone they know--in the story or is reminiscent of a place they grew up, a specific time, a random feeling.

Flibbertigibbet
is a collection of just some of the essays and gibberish I've written over the past year or so. I am currently assembling a selection of stories to be published, as well as writing new material based on my later years, and a fiction novel set in--surprise, surprise--a small, dysfunctional Adirondack town (kind of like Laura Ingalls Wilder on crack).

I also like roller derby, pizza, movies, and dancing around my kitchen to gnarly hair band music from the 80s.
