"I struggle with this a bit and have yet to have anything published. But when they ask, what are your working on, I'm all "It's like..." and name another novel mine is similar too, instead of just saying what mine is about."

Topped off my Nanowrimo at 100K

EXACTLY! How weird is that? But I must say, at least 20K of it I can very easily cut in the first quick edit. Why? because I was writing some scenes just to write, but then changed direction and that scene became useless, but I kept it because you are not supposed to "edit," just keep writing. Not to say I did not do small edits, but I did not take out major chunks.I LOVE the writing process! I am in a love/hate relationship with the editing process. On one hand, I get to relive my chartacters…See More

Still going with my nanowrimo

I think every writer should take the nanowrimo challenge, win or lose. It's not about that, it's about writing. Sheesh! I'm so tired of the negativity I hear about nanowrimo. If it was not for this month, my novel "Six Sexy Sisters" would not have been written. It has been in my mind for at least three years, maybe more. The concept of a novel about 6 sisters has been there awhile...I just didn't know WHICH sisters till I wrote the prequel "Icee/Kitty" story (still no title). So all I am doing is…See More

Nanowrimo for fun or take it serious?

Posted on November 2, 2010 at 8:03am 2 Comments

I have written since I was 12 years old. I am now 37, so that makes 25 years. I wrote for fun back then. What I wrote wasn’t even considered novels, I consider them novellas because typed up (all handwritten till my early twenties) the word count probably was not that high. I had at least one suitcase full of these, staple up, binded in 3-prong folders, or in spiral pads. I stuffed them under my bed, in my dresser drawer, some even in bed with me.

Only few of them survived over the… Continue

Unfinished Business

If I could line up all my unfinished stories, I could carpet my whole 2 story house, plus the basement! Yes, it’s that deep. I don’t know if this is a good habit or bad habit. I have all these ideas in my head, and I just start writing.

Sometimes I finish it, sometimes I don’t.

If I had more time (like writing as my main job) I’d probably have started even more ideas. I have that many festering in my head. I jot down ideas in a notepad I carry around, on little stickys,… Continue
