Who am I
I am a full time special education preschool teacher who believes that all people have gifts to offer society. I had a tough home life growing up, and I used writing to take out my frustrations instead of following in the drug addicted footsteps of my parents. I am the first member of my family to go to college, and I paid my own way. I have my masters in Comprehensive Special Education K-12, Modified Special Education K-12, Early Childhood Education Pk-K, and Elementary Education K-6. I became a lover of books only a few years ago. I read nothing in my childhood. I detested books but loved writing. It wasn't until I discovered my passion for young adult fiction that I learned that I could both love to write AND love to read. Now, I am working to further my passions.

I am working on a young adult fiction called, "The Wielder." The book is based in a society in which people have been altered by birth implants mandated by the government. The implants were meant to improve the health of fetuses and to lessen the cost of health care, but the implants in turn created a society of people who were unstoppable and above the reasonable means of the law. Also, their eyes drained of color. They became known as the Grey Eyes. In a last attempt to stop them, a group of scientists released an atom gas to counter react the affects of the implants. However, the gas had adverse effects on the Grey Eyes, and it did not stop them. It made them stronger. Some developed psychokinetic abilities, while others developed heightened speed and senses. The differences in the Grey Eyes created war within them. This is where Journey Stanton's story begins. She has grown up in a world tainted by hatred and racism. Dead bodies hanging in the city square is a natural occurrence. Her own best friend was murdered by Wielders, the Grey Eyes with the heightened senses. She will be turning 18 soon and will learn what her psychokinetic gift will be. This is her reason for living through the abuse from her father and the neglect from her mother. She tells herself that she is prepared for any change that her body will make as long as she gets her freedom. When her birthday comes, she gets far more freedom than she intended to. Her life makes a dramatic turn that she is NOT prepared for. She is forced to make decisions she never thought she would. Her new question in life is not about an inner gift, but how she will survive.
