"HI Laura - My two cents, it depends on the writer. Although, I am a big believer in writing everyday, good, bad, and darn right ugly prose, I write it.  In the habit of writing, the writer in a person finds the words worth culling. Like most, I…"

Do you have a set writing schedule?

My friend and I were debating between creating a writing schedule or writing when the mood strikes you. Despite being told again and again that if I set a schedule I’ll write more, I feel that when I force myself to write I only come up with lackluster prose and cliché dialogue. What do you do? See More

Oh, thank you! And the road to getting the story published was ... well, not anywhere near as harrowing, but really the hardest because it was such a personal story. It spent years in a drawer based on the bad advice of a writing teacher. (I originally wrote it as fiction.) When I finally pulled it out, it was way the quickest I've ever placed a story, and got me a personal letter from The New Yorker.

And delighted to have you in the novelist group! You might introduce yourself by telling us what you’re working on in the “Show Me Your Novel and I’ll Show You Mine” discussion if you're not too uncomfortable talking about what you're working on.

And we do a live chat every Wednesday at 1EST; instructions on how to participate are in the "Our Water Cooler Wednesdays" box near the top of the group page.

Hi and welcome to SheWrites!

This is a terrific place network and connect.

If you are writing memoir, please come to this site for 12 hours of free teaching.

This is my gift to writers because I know, for a fact, how hard it is to create our art.

Enjoy, Jennifer Lauck
