"That's it Lynnette. It's sort of like parenting. Your faith in the unseen has to keep alive. You must know your completed "draft" is progressing, (your grown child) and so by inches you keep on without proof. "

Shi @@ y first drafts, crappy thirds?

Anne Lamott says in her writing tips book Bird by Bird, to get moving, not to get hung up on “shitty first drafts.”But what if all your drafts are shitty? Essay on What Freedom Means to Me

Posted on August 31, 2010 at 1:12pm 0 Comments

Hi all,

My recent Honorable Mention essay, "Freedom by Inches."

http://skirt.com/content/freedom-inches

Contest asked:

"What does freedom mean to you? Freedom meant a slew of different things to the women who wrote in. We didn't want Chicken for the Soul-esque stories—We wanted edgy, thought-provoking pieces and you delivered. That was the goal of our foremothers after all. But the word "freedom"… Continue

Hi there -- just wanted to drop by your page and invite you personally (or at least virtually) to our first-ever She Writes Orlando Florida meetup, celebrating our first-anniversary! We are so grateful to the event's organizer, Kemari Howell, for taking a risk and stepping up to host. I hope you will support her and bring yourself and other women who write (no need for them to be members) to the Orlando gathering. At the meetup writers will take part in the She Writes "Book Communion," where attendees arrive with one book, their own or another She Writers', new or gently used, and leave with another book as a meaningfully way to support one another's work. We will also be blowing out a candle and making a wish for our upcoming writing year -- along with She Writers gathering in 16 cities around the country. I hope you will be part of this historic (well, at least kind of cool) occasion, and RSVP now to Kemari.
