When I first learned to write, I loved to do it. I wrote on tablecloths and napkins at restaurants. I secretly signed my name underneath my family’s dining room table. When I visited my grandmother, my sister and I wrote stories, which we often gave to our parents as gifts. I liked reading the stories that I wrote out loud.
As I got older, school became more pressured and difficult. My fondness for writing dissolved. I became more judgmental, critical, and doubtful. I no longer had an…

Hey Laura, I checked out the site for you book and it sounds fascinating!

Meg Waite Clayton said… Delighted to have you in the novelist group! You might introduce yourself by telling us what you’re working on in the “Show Me Your Novel and I’ll Show You Mine” discussion if you're not too uncomfortable talking about what you're working on. We save the wall for discussion, so please refrain from linking to blog posts there, but do add them in the “Links to Helpful Blog Posts for Writers” discussion thread. And we do a live chat every Wednesday at 1EST; instructions on how to participate are in the "Our Water Cooler Wednesdays" box near the top of the group page. Hope you can join us for that.

If you’re looking for places to connect here, we’d love to have you join us in the Publishing Industry News group and/or in Novelists – Struggling or Not. You can find all the groups through the Community button at the top of your page.
I used to live in MD, and two of my three novels are set there. (Not Bethesda, though -- one on a horse farm n. of Baltimore, and the most recent in D.C. and on a Chesapeake Bay island.) I live in CA now, but was back for the Gaithersburg Book Festival this spring, and to do a reading at the Borders at Bailey's Crossroads as part of a multi-city book tour. Always reminds me how much we loved living there.
Enjoy She Writes!
