Hi Lea. You must be exhausted. Thank you again for the time and consideration you gave all of us these past few days. I look forward to following the finalists (and reading their entries, when available). When things settle down, IF you remember my entry and briefly want to share some comments and impressions, they will be most welcome. In the meantime, thanks again, and I look forward to what comes next!

All the best,
Meryl

Lea,

Thanks for all the energy and passion you put into the Passion Project. I'm feeling quite honored to have made it to the finalist pool, but also overwhelmed with gratitude for the support of the She Writes community. It's quite a gift!

Thanks for sharing your time and talents with the women on She Writes. I look forward to traveling along with the winner of the Passion Project. Have a great day and be sure to take a much needed rest now that you have finally sorted through the 291 entries.

Hugs, Mary

Lea, a belated thanks for answering my question in the passion project page. It is so far back I thought you might not understand it. I was just checking works cited and if they were in the word count. I appreciate your help. I have been working like mad in between my new busy job, so I will be working down to the wire. But I am really excited, and really hoping it goes over. Thanks for taking time to help.

I look forward to giving them to you. Working on a sheep farm sounds awesome! The first time I went, I went with my daughter - she was interning there for a dance and drama company and we traveled a bit. I don't know if you to to the South Island at all but we were dumbstruck at how many more sheep there than people. We guestimated seeing hundreds of sheep a day. It was a great source of entertainment for us.

The second time I went was to visit my son who was interning for a publisher there. But he being the 19 year old boy that he is, wouldn't be seen traveling with me so I went around solo, touching base with him at the beginning and end of my trip.

I just love NZ. It is VERY far and expensive, but if you can plan far enough in advance it isn't terrible.

Anyway, I love chatting about NZ - so anytime you miss it, give me a holler.

All the best,
Meryl

It was and remains the closest I have come to my idea of paradise.

This was my second time there, and I hope to go again. On my first trip, my highlight was Stewart Island (south of South Island) and if you plan on returning that is a MUST! This trip I spent most of my time (2 weeks) on the South Island. I went to Nelson and Abel Tasman park (another "must" for you) and stopped at small galleries, and fishing towns on the way. Then I went along the Western coast - rough, rugged and absolutely breath-taking on my way to Greymouth (not as special but that's where the train is) and took the Alpine Train through the New Zealand alps to Christchurch. Also lovely but with a European feel that seems out of place a bit (although GREAT shows, music and gardens). [Don't have my photos up yet - still on my "ToDo" list.]

I had wanted to go to Coromadel was told it is spectacular, but didn't have time. I did Kaikura on my first trip. LOVED it. Did a lot of kayaking.

What brought you to New Zealand - anything in particular?
