Young adult world

I agree with Bethany's post that teenagers are better served if they can read realistic fiction. Including sex and drugs in a young adult novel doesn't mean the reader will automatically start doing either. But if the writer has created a believable character whose experience in these areas doesn't turn out well, I can't think of a better lesson for someone to learn vicariously.

Lily, I just opened the door to the novelist group for you - welcome! You might introduce yourself by telling us what you’re working on in the “Show Me Your Novel and I’ll Show You Mine” discussion if you're not too uncomfortable talking about what you're working on. And we do a live chat every Wednesday; hope you can join us for that!

One further thought, Lily. If you cut and paste the gmail address into a new mailbox, I believe you should be successful. At this point, this may be the best way to submit. But again, I'll check with our Webmaster after the holiday. Let me know if this works. j.d.

Hi Lily, I will check this issue out with our Web Master. Others are successfully submitted, but a glitch may have developed. I'll get back to you. Look forward to reading your work. j.d., Prairie Wolf Press Editor

Lily, welcome to Writers in Canada. We're happy to have you with us! Do drop in to our Introductions thread and let us know a bit about yourself and your work. Where are you now? Where are you from (you're in Cali so I'm guessing you're Canadian writing away from the homeland)? What brings you to us? Keep in mind that links to books and other well-meant self-promotion efforts are always encouraged!
