My name is Lisa Tarrer Lacy, I am a playwright and poet. I am the founder and executive director of Images Theatre Company, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) non-profit theater company in Sacramento. I am in love with words, putting pen to the page and the performing arts, especially theater.
My goals include writing for television and film as well as seeing my plays produced across the nation. I love to write about social issues in a creative art form. I believe the arts should do more than entertain, they should teach, empower and lift consciousness. I believe that the arts are critical in elevating the minds and lives of all, especially our youth. Therefore, I believe all people, regardless to socio-economic level or status should have access to the arts and to these ends are towards, which I work.
Playwriting has saved my life on many levels. Writing is a part of my core and being. Join me as I began this new part of my journey on SHE WRITES. Words are power as is knowledge...and I am excited to be able to add my words in this new endeavor. I welcome your comments and thoughts as I move forward. Stay tuned.

On June 12, 2006, I came home to find the love of my life, my dear husband, floating, deceased in our swimming pool. As I put my keys in the door, rushing in to tell him about something silly, and happy to be home with him again, I opened the door to a sight, I shall never be able to forget or undo.
