Profile Information

Who I am:
After spending my first twenty-odd years in New England and studying dance, English literature and the French language at Mount Holyoke College, I moved to France and became a professional dancer and choreographer. The move was only temporary, but has lasted another twenty-odd years. Paris affects some people in a permanent way: the city, the culture, the language, the people…
The shift from performance art to writing (and photography) has been gradual, but steady. One form of creation replacing the other. Short stories, reflections on the expatriate life and experiments with something I call "microfictionphoto" (25-word stories paired with photos of the neighborhood I live in) are some of the things I’m working on currently. My blog displays at http://www.headlessladythinks.com/
Books I've written, anthologies I've contributed to, and any scripts or plays I've authored:
I've written reams of things over the past few years....but haven't published. Joining She Writes reflects the wish to meet other writers, learn, evolve and move forward with my writing.

Services I offer to other writers:
After twenty years in Paris (and a degree in French and English literature), I am bilingual and bicultural. From time to time I do translations (optimally from French to English, but I can do the reverse), most frequently in the cultural domain.
I'm part of these writers' groups or salons:
Currently looking for an anglophone writers' group in Paris.

I just read through your shewrites page.  I am going to be in Paris for ten days in June.  Maybe we should aim for a cup of coffee???

Except for the webbed toes, could be my mother in law, she lived to 94!  I have a question for you about the essay.  I did a slight redraft of it and submitted it to a print magazine.  Do you think I should take it down from my writer's group blog?  I was at a conference recently and listened to a panel of agents, there was a lot of mixed info on the subject.  One agent said she would never take on anything that had appeared in a blog, and two others chimed in that it was nonsense.  Some blogs have like four followers!  Anyway, do you have a thought on the subject?  Thanks.
