I am a writer and an anthropologist. My book, MADRE: Perilous Journeys with a Spanish Noun, has just come out with W. W. Norton, (c)2011. Soon, my Internet project, MESOLORE, co-authored with Byron Hamann, will be launched. My twin girls are moving and shaking. My goal in 2011 is to witness--or at least hear about-- many wonderful stories. Of course, I'd love to hear about stories concerning a massive decline in violence in Mexico. It would make my year, not to mention that of all my dear friends in Mexico.
