Read: Quiet and Proud of It which references the ne Susan Cain book "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a world where People Won't Stop Talking http://redroom.com/member/lorraine-duffy-merkl/blog/quiet-and-proud-of-it
Your recent post re: coming to a place in your life where accumulation begins to bog one down had resonance. I find myself doing a bit of divesting these days, though for me it has much to do with all those saved photos, years of my daughter's artwork and papers kept for all the right reasons. How long do we keep them? And how much will they matter in years to come, when no one recognizes them anymore? I do buy less these days, too. P.S. I wish you much success with your book.
A stylish mom, indeed, Lorraine. Reminds me a little of photos of my own mother (stylish as well) from that same era.
btw-- where in NY are you?--- I grew up in Queens, worked in Manhattan, been in Texas for a while but my extended family is still in NY
it's good to be supportive of a fellow writer--- good luck with your book!
I really enjoyed your post on Young Adult. I know it was just a movie but I had the same questions as you did. Thanks for writing.
For some reason i cannot fathom, I cannot post a comment on your blog! But here is the comment i had written-
I think its wonderful that you are so giving and yeah sometimes there will be years that you won't hear that crack of the bat with a home run but the giving adds life to the giver, no matter how much or little its appreciated. Great post!
Lorraine for some reason the page your aritcle is on wont allow me to comment! This one let me put in all my info but when I went to post it it said it could not accept it! SO frustrating, anyway I wanted to say that I REMEMBER that commercial! At least you had the confidence to call! lol
Great article!

I wish I could say that makes me feel better, but it doesn't. Not with college age twins and two more coming fast.
