Last year I began teaching creative writing, with no thought about how it might affect my own writing.

But as I taught (actually, as I hammered away at) my students--mostly boomers and seniors--about what their writing had to reflect if they wanted it to be read by anyone, let alone published, I realized I was learning a ton about writing myself.

For example, many students writing memoirs simply reported their lives. Emotion, reflection, the meaning of events and patterns… Continue

Hello Lynette! Thank you for your response. My Memoir-I am taking notes and writing down thoughts and memories that come to my mind. My plan is to tell about the triumphs, tragedies, lessons, simple things, and joys of my life. I have been fortunate enough to publish my first book of poetry. The title of my first book is "Lyrically Loaded". I am waiting on my proof of the edited edition of Lyrically Loaded. I hope to gather more information and ways of writing and to cultivate my writing skill.

Thanks! It's kind of funny because in that picture I was at the airport embarking on a Disney vacation reading The Hunger Games :) I had to put it away until we were home because it wasn't really putting me in the proper Disney mood.
