So sorry you had to deal with such a negitive situtation. Social media does make it deceivingly easy to think you know someone better than you do.

When social media takes a wrong turn

After the week I have had I now see how social media can work to the detriment of a person-I being that person. When you find someone online for a reason (I hunt for writers for a website) you pick someone with great writing skills. That doesn't mean your personalities will ever be enough for a real friendship. Most of the writers I have found are truly gifted artists who have talent that abounds. Some are tortured, some are happy and some just write for joy. Some capture you and you think in…See More

He who dies with the most toys winI recently saw a bumper sticker that said “HE WHO DIES WITH THE MOST TOYS WINS.” It made me think of my father… he was a man who LOVED his toys. One of his favorite toys was a bright red Ferrari he bought during a midlife crises that seemed to last most of his adult life. I can still see him sitting in that car with a huge smile on his face. He took such delight in his possessions and his playthings. Besides the numerous sports cars (there are too many to name)…See More

Mother's day for some ain't easy

Mother's day for some ain't easyFor me Mother's day is always a bit tough. My memories of my mother are very limited and a lot not the greatest. I once asked my dad if my Mom wanted kids and he said absolutely. I find that difficult to sometimes see in my mother. I wanted kids for sure and I know my kids feel that love and need and want within me. When I look at my Mom today at 84 it is hard to…See More

Hi Madge. Before my husband got sick had no idea how wide spread mental illness is, or how varied the symptoms and severity can be. Thanks for asking about my husband. Now that he's got the meds he needed he is better than ever, but I try to be mindful of the fact that it doesn't go away. At least if there's a next time I'll recognize what's going on.

Thanks again for your kind comments, to me and the other finalists. We're not exactly enjoying an outpouring of support, but maybe that's too much to ask. Anyway, thanks :) --A

Thanks Madge. I don't have a blog, I'm not on Twitter -- I'm really woefully underprepared to promote myself, my manuscript, etc., which is part of the reason I entered the Passion Project contest. And here's the shameful secret of it: I'm a full-time marketing manager in real life. For my writing, though, I don't exactly walk the walk. Yet. :)
