Thanks for your friend request. Your work sounds very interesting. I am not doing "friends" on SheWrites because it is too much casual internet for me. If you are interested in dialogue about something in particular, you can reach me via…
Hi Maggie,
I hope you are doing well. Please feel free to reach out if you need anything.

Renate, the low-residency M.F.A. programs have proliferated in recent years in the U.S. and were rated in the current issue of Poets & Writers magazine. You go the the college for ten days twice a year for a residency, for a total of five…
It sounds like you had a wonderful experience and one that could benefit many. Another great way for writers who already have a life to improve their writing and get an M.F.A. degree is the low-residency writing programs. Poets & Writers rated…
Hi there -- just wanted to drop by your page and invite you personally (or at least virtually) to our first-ever She Writes Chicago meetup, celebrating our first-anniversary! We are so grateful to the event's organizer, Eileen O'Halloran,…
Hi Maggie,
I wanted to connect with you and ask for your feedback. I recently did my first on-camera interview for the children's book on child sexual abuse prevention that I wrote, My Body Belongs to Me. Please let me know what you think when…
What a wonderful photo! I'm just about to get on the roller blades myself with a blog, and soon you'll see it on the roster of SheWrites' blogging group. Tentative title: Ritual and Rhubarb Pie. I'm hoping to find it playful and…
1. Publishing one's first book is just the start; marketing is just as much work and just as important.
2. Nothing is more important that the process of writing itself, and you shouldn't let marketing get in the way.

ImageUpdate's Top Ten for 2009 included four books and 1 TV show, Nurse Jackie, by women. One of the books was my memoir, The Crack between the Worlds: a dancer's memoir of loss, faith and family. How's that for equal time?
I am investigating blogs at present, reading and finding ones related to my book and my interests: dance and religion; spiritual pursuit through the arts; putting the public in publication. A favorite already is squad365@blogspot.com.

I hope you will find, as I did,…
Thanks, Renate, for reminding me to post to the group. I'm just learning my way around this excellent website. I mentioned that Gertrude Stein expressed one of the central paradoxes of modernism when she lamented (in a lecture, 1934) about the…
Women Reading Aloud looks great. I like the three-pronged idea. I'll keep an eye on your events for when I visit New York. Hope to have a reading there sometime in 2010.
Thank you, Maggie, for your lovely comment on my Gertrude Stein blog and your discovery of her rose. I think "The World Is Round" still exists in print... I love that book, too.
That's a gorgeous photo of you...

Hi there -- just wanted to drop by your page and invite you personally (or at least virtually) to our first-ever She Writes Chicago meetup, celebrating our first-anniversary! We are so grateful to the event's organizer, Eileen O'Halloran, for taking a risk and stepping up to host. I hope you will support her and bring yourself and other women who write (no need for them to be members) to the Chicago gathering. At the meetup writers will take part in the She Writes "Book Communion," where attendees arrive with one book, their own or another She Writers', new or gently used, and leave with another book as a meaningfully way to support one another's work. We will also be blowing out a candle and making a wish for our upcoming writing year -- along with She Writers gathering in 16 cities around the country. I hope you will be part of this historic (well, at least kind of cool) occasion, and RSVP now to Eileen here.

Thanks, Laura. What's your Twitter handle and I'll add you to my follow list? I tried to post your post to Twitter but the She Writes site is pretty wonky and it wouldn't obey! It's a good post so maybe you can tweet it so it…
