1-800-what-do-i-do-God?

1-800-what-do-i-do-God?In life we are bamboozled with problems and decisions. It seems like every day, I have some other life-altering decision that I have act upon. I sit and think and think, but my head starts to hurt—like it’s going to burst or something. Why can’t God have a hotline where we can call him up and ask him these little things along life’s way? You would think he would have a special number like 1-800-what-do-i-do-god… or something catchy like that. Man, if I had his number, I…See More

Mini-memoir: The Kick

I have recently joined Voices (the speaking bureau for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence). My application reviewing process was not even complete when I received a call to do a talk about my personal story and the effects of domestic violence. I am so excited to finally share my story. I want to break the silence! I want to help others who are suffering in silence. As I prepare for the talk, I am reviewing statistics and getting a power point together. The stats are almost too…See More

Bangles to Mom- Introduction of book 2 in the Bangles Series.

IntroductionJanuary 5, 1992, I boarded a plane with my two small children (Mona, aged 5, and Shedi, aged 3) a new name and my second husband, Zain; we had one-way tickets to Pakistan and a plan. Our destination:  Zain’s birthplace in the remote farming village of Kalu Kalan, Pakistan. Our reason: to escape the toxic influence and control of my abusive ex-husband, David. Our goal: to join Zain’s relatives and live free from David’s domineering interference. But in doing so I became the subject…See More

The joy of holding my own book......

Today was one of the greatest days of my life. I finally got to hold the book that I have been dreaming about for years, Bangles: My True Story of Escape, Adventure and Forgiveness. As I watched my son open the first box of books that arrived, my heart was racing. All I could think about was, as soon as he opens that box, I will see my face; I will see the book that I have been working on for years. My dream has finally manifested before my eyes. Thank you God for giving me the endurance that I…See More

Book Review by Michael Knox-Smith of Bangles: My True Story of Escape, Adventure and Forgiveness

Bangles: My True Story of Escape, Adventure and Forgiveness by Marsha Marie is a personal tale of living outside the “safety” of America and of adopting another country as home. A sort of variation of “An Englishman Abroad” where the heroine of the book takes us though her trails and tribulations via series of books all starting with “Bangles.”The tale begins with Marsha in an abusive relationship with her first husband. One that ends with her losing custody of her children. She meets a man…See More

Bangles to Mom

Today I have been continuing with my next book, Bangles to Mom. Writing up all of these old letters that I had sent to my mom touches the very core of my soul. I can actually feel the dust on the letters, knowing that there is a chance that it is the very dust from my one-room home back in Pakistan. I close my eyes and my memories come alive; smells and all.I am amazed and utterly shocked at some of the idiotic things I wrote to my mother back in 1992. Thank God I have matured and become a…See More

Publog July 30, 2016 --Angry with Facebook!

Dear Diary,I am really disgusted with Facebook. Last week (while I posting adverts for Bangles up on the feeds of several of the hundred book lovers’ groups that I belong to) Facebook blocked my postings. They blocked me until August 5; and for what? For posting on a group that was originally made for this particular type of posting?  Where is the logic in that?I tried to appeal the block, and gave my due reasoning, but alas no reply from them. So I decided to do some research about it; tried…See More

Hi guys,

I hope that this blog finds you well today. Thanksgiving is coming up soon and I am assuming that everyone is getting ready for that. Well, love is in the air here in Arizona, and this afternoon, I have a wedding to go to. I am so happy that my friend Lakeisha found the man of her dreams.

So since love is on my brain, I wanted to write this week about the topic of love. I had first thought to share with you about the time that one of my students in Pakistan fell in…

Dear Peline,

Hi there my Aussie mate. It has been so long since we last chatted. I think the last time was actually during the time you were in Turkey taking care of your parent’s hotel. I can’t believe that you have not returned any of my messages!! Bloody hell!!

So much has happened since our last coffee at the City Seasons in Al Ain. It is now going on three years I’ve been back to the States. I finally published that book that I always wanted to write. And I was…

The Digital Goddess: Kim Komando and AZTAP.org

As some of you have read in my monthly newsletter, my daughter, Mona, has started her own online t-shirt business, Theatre Mo Meter. That is quite an amazing feat for an autistic young lady. (I am so proud of her.) The problem was that our old laptop died of a heart-attack about three months ago. (Really, I literally…

April, 2012

Dear Sultan,

Last night we went to your house for the Royal wedding of your nephew. We had such a wonderful time. I can’t believe that I got to enjoy the evening with the Royal family of UAE.

The food was simply out of this world. So many different dishes to choose from! My favorite was by-far the “goat on rice”.  I was shocked to see that we had a entire goat just the four people at my table. Wow! That was just so much…
