I think blogs are the thing. Also find the Yahoo groups that feature your genre.   A formal press release to media is a thing of the past, especially if you're a small publisher and/or indy author.   On the other hand, I usually…

I've released a reprint of a book whose contract has expired. Rather than renew the contract, I went self-pub. Reason: the publisher hasn't "got" ebooks yet. Languishing in print only isn't the way to go. Retitled: The…

Marva Dasef commented on the blog post 'Can Literary Agents Still Deliver?'
An agent holding the book for years unsold shouldn't happen. First, make sure your agreement with the agency is limited to one year, renewable by agreement of both parties. Second, remember you can fire an agent who isn't doing their job.…

The Witches of Galdorheim

This is my WIP which is a three-book series following the adventures of teen witch who lives in a witches' community in the Arctic. No, I did not steal Pulman's idea. I only found out later that he did the same, and the hell if I'm going to change mine. For one thing, my books have a lot more humor.

Bad Spelling: Book 1. Katya can't cast a spell like every other witch on the island. Matter of fact, she's an abject failure, even outdone by her little brother who can spell with one hand and eat a sandwich with the other. When her aunt discovers that Katya's bad spelling comes from a curse placed on her frozen father's body, Katya has to step up. Galdorheim is doomed unless Katya can find a way to stop the nasty shaman who cast the curse.

Haven't written the blurbs yet for the next two books although they are completed and in the process of fine-tuning.

Operation Ebook Drop

Posted on November 13, 2009 at 7:50pm 0 Comments

A lot of writers are now involved in Operation Ebook Drop. Started small, but is growing by leaps.

Here's the deal. Service people in the military overseas are hungry for reading material. Many of their families have bought Kindles for them, but the problem is that the Amazon downloads are not available in places like Iraq and Afghanistan. Also, these people need FREE material. Yeah, they're willing to buy, but the question is if we're willing to give.

Hi Marva, thanks for friending me. I'm fascinated by your Adventures of Cadida. What made you decide on that particular character? And I love the Tales of a Texas Boy. I'm working on a biography of my paternal grandfather so I'm especially appreciative. Best, Nicky

Ha, ha.... cute. I am a bit of a workaholic when it comes to my writing; but, I am like you when it comes to just chilling after so many years of working! I see only a few patients now in my home and a close by center. So, I have time to write and really enjoy it. Thanks for talking with me... we must keep in touch. :)
