Hi there -- just wanted to drop by your page and invite you personally (or at least virtually) to our first-ever She Writes Orlando Florida meetup, celebrating our first-anniversary! We are so grateful to the event's organizer, Kemari Howell, for taking a risk and stepping up to host. I hope you will support her and bring yourself and other women who write (no need for them to be members) to the Orlando gathering. At the meetup writers will take part in the She Writes "Book Communion," where attendees arrive with one book, their own or another She Writers', new or gently used, and leave with another book as a meaningfully way to support one another's work. We will also be blowing out a candle and making a wish for our upcoming writing year -- along with She Writers gathering in 16 cities around the country. I hope you will be part of this historic (well, at least kind of cool) occasion, and RSVP now to Kemari.
I wanted to connect with you and ask for your feedback. I recently did my first on-camera interview for the children's book on child sexual abuse prevention that I wrote, My Body Belongs to Me. Please let me know what you think when you have some time.
Off duty, I write fiction and personal essays, and I'm a regular contributor to Eric Maisel's Creativity Central where I write about film’s life lessons and other pleasures of the cinema.
My childhood fascination with classic movies on a flickering TV screen delivered glimpses into adult life that led me to believe the answers to all life’s questions could be found in movies. (They can, right?)
I can often be found at a multiplex theater, an alternative cinema, a film festival, or at home watching a movie. Last year I saw 100 movies and documented it in a mixed media journal.
I love a challenge, I'm curious, I learn by doing, and if I read manuals at all, it's usually after the fact. Experience is the best teacher.
