Hi there -- just wanted to drop by your page and invite you personally (or at least virtually) to our first-ever She Writes Orlando Florida meetup, celebrating our first-anniversary! We are so grateful to the event's organizer, Kemari Howell, for taking a risk and stepping up to host. I hope you will support her and bring yourself and other women who write (no need for them to be members) to the Orlando gathering. At the meetup writers will take part in the She Writes "Book Communion," where attendees arrive with one book, their own or another She Writers', new or gently used, and leave with another book as a meaningfully way to support one another's work. We will also be blowing out a candle and making a wish for our upcoming writing year -- along with She Writers gathering in 16 cities around the country. I hope you will be part of this historic (well, at least kind of cool) occasion, and RSVP now to Kemari.

Thanks for the post and great ideas! I did a talk at the Boston Public Library but didn't do any publicity, so it was a small audience and I would definitely like to do more in Boston. I'll follow up with some of those places. That's great that you know Ted! We crossed paths in graduate school -- he was leaving while I was coming -- and I'm always so curious to see what he's doing.

Ooooooh, "The Pleasures of ..." sounds amazing! Seriously. Hope the writing goes well. This site has been like vitamin-enriched motivation for my writing this summer -- the social construction of knowledge, breaking out of my writing isolation, and all that. Plus, it's always a comfort to know others are out there writing away and taking the work seriously. Speaking of taking the work seriously, you continue to impress me with your prolific output! Hope you're allowing some time for fun summertime antics, too.

i'm back in lubbock teaching my grad class on popular culture and history. we're reading suspicions of mr. whicher - which is pretty friggin' awesome. or at least, i loved it. it's like sherlock holmes, but in a completely beach read, fun kinda way...

haven't had time to completely check out this site, but am excited you invited me. still sad we miss each other in boston though.
