I have been thinking about getting out of my PhD with a Masters as year 4 is coming to an end. Was that an acceptable option within your faculty? I have broached the subject within my school but it's never been done before and I get the feeling that I would be persona non grata if I pursued that option. Truth is I don't really mind because I just want to finish off the damn thing :) I would appreciate any ting you have to say about what that was like for you.
