Who I am:
Melissa Miles McCarter is a writer, editor and publisher; with her husband, Dr. William Matthew McCarter, she created the small press, Fat Daddy's Farm. Her latest project through Fat Daddy's Farm is editing and publishing the anthology on motherhood and loss, "Joy, Interrupted" out in October 2012.

Melissa is also a doctoral candidate writing her dissertation on postfeminist composition studies. She lives in rural Southeast Missouri on their small homestead with her husband, Dr. William Matthew McCarter, two bulldogs, step-son and three cats.

In my experience, Mother’s Day is often trying for mothers who have had losses.  In fact, the national organization RESOLVE, which supports women struggling with infertility, suggests sending a card to women who aren’t able to conceive or have had pregnancy losses.
