Have you lost your "small" eyes?

I remember seeing things the way my four year old, Nicholas, does. But I don't remember when those same things, those simple things that once fascinated me, became the same things that my eyes would pass over every day without much more than a simple glance followed by an oh that's nice here and there. When Nicholas sees an orange and pink sky he gasps in amazement at the awesome sherbert ice cream sky.Our kids are smart enough to collect pockets full of sparkling granite rocks, leaves painted…See More

Santa's on the Naughty List

I am very disappointed in Santa. I have, however, come to the conclusion that there must be two Santas - one for the South and one for the rest of the world. I live in the South and have had a glimpse of the one and only Redneck Santa.Last year my husband and I took the boys to Bass Pro Shop's big shindig celebrating the arrival of Santa to his in-store workshop. Given that kid-friendly activities are few and far between we decided to take old Santa up on his invitation.Let me preface the rest…See More

Business. We all have it. And while everyone’s business is different based on their lifestyle, there are really only two kinds of business:Number 1 – Personal businessNumber 2 – Work-related businessNowadays much of our business, be it number 1 or number 2 is conducted via cell phone. Communication is key and the invention of the portable phone has made communication easier than ever. We can take our business with us wherever we go. But here’s where it gets a bit sticky, where does one draw…See More

Hello everyone. My name is Michelle and was addicted to trying to fix my son.

It’s been nearly 6 years since my son’s diagnosis with Tourette’s Syndrome. Five of those years I spent moving through a series of emotions that I now realize were very much like the 12 step program that groups like AA rely on. I realize now that I had an addiction that took me years to overcome.

Even before Jacob was diagnosed with TS, thanks to… Continue

Welcome to Non Fiction Writers, Michelle!! Congratulations on finishing the proposal for your book. That is no small accomplishment, and I hope to be posting the same message soon. I stopped by your blog and wanted to let you know how much I liked it. The 'V is for Voice' post was powerful and poignant. And the humor in some of your other posts made me laugh...the retro pictures are great, too!

I hear you on the whole "summer" thing. I tell myself daily: "It is worth spending this time, now, with my children." "Writing opportunities will always be there." "Nobody gets to have it all all at the same time." "I chose this."

MIchelle: the only way I have found time to write is to pay someone to watch my kids for two hours. IF I don't write, I imagine throwing $25 out the window.
