I launched my writing career at the age of eight, when I would craft stories on my father’s drafting board, illustrate them, and then sell them door-to-door in the neighborhood for 25 cents. I continued to hone my craft and aggressively promote the literary and fine arts scene ever since.
In Chicago, I was a copywriter for an in-house advertising agency until the “Windy City” heaved her mighty breath and blew me west to California. There, I became a special events coordinator for the Los Angeles Music Center. Stints as a marketing director for venues in the entertainment and tourism industries led to fundraising and marketing projects for a variety of educational, arts, and social service organizations throughout Santa Barbara and Los Angeles Counties.
My whirlwind professional and personal adventures around southern California resulted in my screenwriting the documentary film Above Santa Barbara and writing the 400-page travel book, Insider’s Guide to Santa Barbara, 4th Edition for Globe Pequot Press. I also penned travel industry materials for the Santa Barbara Conference & Visitors Bureau, the Central Coast Tourism Council, the Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Oxnard Convention Bureau and wrote wine articles for the international Touring and Tasting magazine. I am a former columnist for Coastal Woman magazine and South Coast Beacon. I currently write articles for Noozhawk.com, Seasons Magazine, and Custom Media Publishing.
I have published hundreds of non-fiction articles, a chapter in a book on fund raising for independent schools, and a personal essay in an international magazine. I am also a published photographer and novelist.
