"Very helpful guide, Tracy. I followed a format similar to this with my proposal, and when I had it critiqued by two publishing consultants, they complimented the professionalism and said you wouldn't believe how uncommon that is. Much…"

"Writing memoir isn't all pain, even when it involves experiencing things all over again. My memoir, Mango Rash: Survival Lessons in the Land of Frangipani and Fanta, is about a period of my life that was memorable for the beauty and wonder…"
"Thanks for sharing your experience, Linda. I'm a former journalist, too, and I'm at a place with my memoir similar to where you were with your novel: encouraging initial responses from agents, but ultimately, kind and…"

Hi Nan...thank you for the warm welcome to She Writes. I'm looking forward to reading some of the group's work and maybe getting some inspiration from you. I am at the beginning stages of writing at this time. I have always wanted to write a memoir but I find the format so predictable and boring. i learned about a poem through a Language Arts teacher, called Mama Where Are You From? It was an eighth grade assignment to write your own poem using the format. I tried it just for fun and found that I loved the writing process. The experience prompted me to write more and now I can't seem to stop...the memories are flooding back into my consciousness.....62 years worth of them, so I have alot of material to draw from....just need to get it all down on paper!
