"Hey Phoebe, This is a much belated comment back(regarding your comment of June 14) but yes I think patting yourself on the back routinely is important although not as easy as it sounds. One would think that taking a breather and allowing yourself…"

Natalie, I wanted to tell you that I loved your idea, as a busy mom, of writing down everything you've done in a day and then giving yourself a big pat on the back for it. Especially when the kids are tiny and demanding; I don't know if I ever gave myself ANY credit, and boy, I DID deserve it. We all do!

Hi Natalie, as you can see from my picture, I am developing a strong interest in pirates. I have recently read Dave Barry's Peter and the Star Catchers. I'm not as advanced a writer as Dave Barry. I have only had articles published, so I'm also looking at Pirates Past Noon by Mary Osborne. I'm trying to challenge myself to come up with a children's story that involves pirates. I live near the treasure coast. There are so many references to pirates in my work as a social studies teacher and in my own personal experience meeting a finder of a mega load of Spanish gold coins and artifacts. I'm reading a few books to get the voice that I feel would work for me. I thought that joining this site would open avenues of readers and enthusiasts who could help me stay on track. What do you think? Jane
