Who I am:
I have written non-fiction regarding peace, justice and environmental sustainability issues over the past ten years. But I have been focusing on fiction over the past year or so. I have written a few short stories and am working on a novel.

I am looking to weave several themes into the novel set in an economically depressed small (un-named) town in the Mt. Shasta area of California. The themes involve grief, lost love, friendship, resilience, and sustainable community. The story is about a 12-year old boy neglected by his grieving mother after his father's death. The boy finds unexpected refuge in an eccentric drunk who lives at the edge of town in a trailer and has a passion for organic container gardening. Their unlikely friendship leads to an interesting turn of events in the town.
