In keeping with Anna Leahy's legacy... don't forget this month's online chat at 230 EST Friday. If you're on a Submission Mission for your novel, poem, nonfiction, or experimental form, join us to share your successes and learn from others near-misses. You're guaranteed to pick up at least one piece of useful info-- after more than half a year of participating I'm still picking up pearls.…

Hi, ladies. I'll be hosting tomorrow's co- Global and Travel Writers groups' monthly online chat. It will take place for an hour beginning at 230 PM CST here on SheWrites.
Feel free to send me any questions or topics you're interested in discussing beforehand. Send it to me directly at Nichole@ArchitectureTravelWriter.com.
I also hope you'll bring at least one source or newly discovered/cherished publication or tidbit to share with all the other ladies. Man, is that…

After participating for six months, April marks the first month I’m officially taking over the reigns as facilitator for the monthly Submission Mission chats.
A lot has happened since discovering the chats: my first piece as a literary writer was accepted. The ninth cloud is mine to ride as I await the actual publication of “Burqa to the Loo”, a memoir about the liberation found in wearing hijab…
ContinueI'm sorry Nichole I am just catching up with She Writes. Hope you've found the community useful and thx for the friend request!

Thanks Nichole! I really do appreciate it. The book is forthcoming, and should be out within the next month. I will let you know when I have it and start reviewing it. Yay!
Hey Nichole--I meant to ask you something today. Any chance that if I reviewed a friend's chapbook we could post it on your blog? I thought about spinning it so there's a short review (500 words or less) of the book, and a link for where to buy it, and then then Lucy's (the author's) top 5 submission/publishing tips. She's an accomplished and up and coming young poet. I know this is a major favor, but I don't have a blog right now, and I'd love to post this somewhere where there's an audience. If you don't want to, no biggie. I will ask around other places as well. Let me know! Thanks for everything, again.

Erika Dreifus said… Thanks for the friend invite, Nichole. And here's to the new day/time for The Submission Mission chats.
Marilyn Bousquin said… Hi, Nichole. Would love to share on SubMiss chat. When is it?
Marilyn Bousquin said… Nichole, thank you so much for your generous welcome. I am delighted to be here. My most recent blog That Damn Rope: What Women Writers Can Learn from Women Cops contains my thoughts on submission, rejection, and resubmission. I'm looking forward to a renewed submission mission here! Best, Marilyn
Hey! How are you?
Rebecca Lane Beittel said… Awesome. Can't wait for one of those monthly chats. I'll stay tuned!
Jayne Ark said… Wow, thanks! That website is great, and looks like it will be the perfect way to track down a home for a piece with a rather specific topic.
Too cool. I'm glad you are enjoying the African stuff! We had an African fiction writer, Helon Habila, on the faculty at Mason (where I did my MFA). Great work. I am really sorry about FWJ and the general frustrations. I know FWJ has weird deadlines that are different based on genre. Your time will come back around...I know the nonfiction team, and they are pretty cool. Also, I think there's less competition in that area than on the poetry side, where we are ranked one of the "top 25 most challenging markets" on Duotrope. This tells me our poetry readers (including ME) are extremely picky...uh oh. Anyways, I will keep looking for possible homes for your work! Did you look at Silk Road Review? You might have even recommended them to me (?).
In regards to the Submission Mission chat on March 1st, I wanted to let you know that I can't host or even participate. It will be the first one I've missed! But, the chat falls on the first day of AWP. The conference begins on the 1st and ends on the 3rd (basically). So, I haven't "enjoyed" it yet, but I will tell you how it was once I get back! Also, I should get my book in the mail Tuesday. So exciting.
