Road-tripping. With Dogs.

In two more days, I leave Sheridan, Wyoming, heading south to Rockport, Texas.I've become a snowbird now. Part of the year in Sheridan, the rest in Rockport where I lived 10 years before I became a Sheridanite.Texas is home - land of my birth (in Tyler, Aug. 18, 1947). But so is Wyoming by virtue of having lived full-time in Sheridan for more than 20 years before the call of family - and the pain of shoveling winter snow - drove me south again.I travel with a small menagerie: two basset hounds,…See More

Why I Know Cats Go Between

A few days ago, I wrote about cats and magic - and my theory that cats go Between, that dimensionless space that exists between our world and ... whatever else is out there. Here's how I know:A few years (well, more than a few) ago, when my sister moved up to Sheridan, Wyoming (from Rockport, Texas), I took some time off and went with her to help with her dog and cats. Second day of travel, we stopped in Denver. Next morning, as we're loading the car, we noticed one of the cats was missing. We…See More

Book Trailers

I'm new here and, despite 30 years experience writing for newspapers, still relatively new to the world of publishing. I'm curious about book trailers. I know they can be great tools for drawing attention to my books. My question is: How do I connect with someone who can make trailers for my books? What's the first step? And the one after that? Are there people out there that I can call or e-mail?Any help at all will be hugely appreciated. Thanks!See More

Cats and Magic

Those two just go together, don't they? Cats are such mysterious creatures ... It's no wonder humans have linked them with witches and wizards through the centuries. You can visualize a cat as a wizard's familiar in a way that, for example, a basset hound (of which I have two - in addition to a couple of cats) just wouldn't fit.Can you see a basset hound as a familiar?"Bubba, I need you to help me channel a spell.""Yeah, sure, keep your robes on.
