Interesting analogy, to compare New Media solutions for book presentation to developing (no pun intended) films that are not mere registrations of the staged play. It certainly opens new horizons. For me, coming to literature from the theater arts,…

I'm thrilled, Judith! Yes, sometimes those logistical blog issues can be really bedeviling. Reminds me of the kind of puzzles on 8th grade aptitude tests -- If A leaves B at 8 am traveling 50 miles an hour..... Definitely a different way of…

10 Steps To Turning Your Blog Into A Bestseller

Posted on July 12, 2010 at 2:24pm 9 Comments

I created a blog called How Not To Act Old, two months later I sold it as a book to Harper Collins, and it went on to be a New York Times bestseller.

How did I do it? Here, the ten most important things you need to know:

1. PLAN THE BOOK BEFORE YOU LAUNCH YOUR BLOG – If you’d love your blog to turn into a book, start planning from the beginning. Research what other books and blogs on your topic are out there, what’s… Continue

The Only Woman on the Humor Bestseller List

Posted on August 25, 2009 at 3:06pm 5 Comments

My new book How Not To Act Old is on the New York Times Bestseller List, a real thrill especially since it’s my first time after 18 books.

But an even bigger thrill might be being the only writer in the Amazon Humor Top Ten without a penis.

Dear Pamela:

I have written eleven books, including the Best Seller, The Last Waltz: A Novel of Love and War.  My husband is thepassvievoice.com which chronicles the daily demise of publishing as we know it, and so I decided that I would try self-publishing for my latest book--The Only Way to Paradise.  Inspired by "Enchanted April" this four-woman therapy group decide to take themselves to Florence/Tuscany to rejuvenate themselves.  Although I was coached in writing at Stanford, I still feel inadequate, even after all those books. Since this is a self-published book, I can change it at any time.  It has only been out a month.  I am wondering if you could "coach me"--evaluating what I have written and helping to take it to "the next level."  Could you please get in touch with me regarding fees, etc.?  ggvan1at gmail dot com.

Thank you so much for your attention to this matter.

Yours truly

Thanks, Pam! The photo is by a Maplewood photographer, Kathryn Huang (kathrynphoto.com). I needed some professional headshots for my blogging and economic development work. Kathryn is great. She makes everyone glow.

I shared a post titled "The Birth of the Diversity Blogs" today.  I wanted to share about the various cultures and peoples of the world and I figured that I should make that the theme of my blog.  :D Enjoy!
