As for memoir, well: I'm certainly using my family history in short fiction at the moment! I guess time will tell... ;D

Hi Carroll,

My Vienna-born dad was a Jewish physicist and (lucky) immigrant to the US in 1937 with the Germanic surname "Lichtschein"... Light Shine. His paternal great uncle, Robert, had been a businessman in France in the 1920s, and took the common surname LAMBERT (Lom-Bare) because anti-German sentiment was very high. The family agreed to all take the name LAMBERT if any of them left Austria thereafter. I have a cousin, Peter Lambert who lives in California, and one sister, Adina Lambert who lives in Bucks County, PA.
