Hi Patricia, Your project sounds interesting to me. I am in my second draft of my novella, so I would be able to send you only the beginning. My novella is about a confident single woman that gets involved in destructive relationship. She has to…

Patricia Anne Panahi replied to the discussion 'Call for Submissions - Living our Faith' in the group Spiritual and Inspirational Writing
I'm not clear here. The "heathen and pagan" threw me off. Are you looking only for people who follow pagan beliefs, or are you also looking for people who follow a spiritual path beyond religion? Those who see God/Goddess, the…

Whole Book Critique

I have a completed novel that has already gone through numerous revisions. I am looking for an overall critique and will do the same in return. I am open to exchanging a few chapters to make sure we are a good match. My novel, Veil of Walls, is about a young New Englander who finds herself trapped in Iran after the sudden death of her parents.I like reading literary fiction, especially stories that take place in other cultures and other times.I have published a few short stories and essays in…See More

I meant "like" literary fiction. Recently read "The Kitchen God's Wife" by Amy Tan, and "The Peach Blossom Pavilion" by Ming Mei Yip.

Patricia Anne Panahi replied to the discussion 'The Self-Publishing Debate - Opinions?'
The issue is, self-published books are not vetted by anyone, so anything can get published - the awesome and the crappy. While there are some successes, the average sale of a self-published book is 75 copies. Dont' remember where I saw this…

Child abuse is not a topic I like to read about, but I'm willing to exchange a chapter of Veil of Walls if you'd like. Veil of Walls is about a child in a difficult situation - Iran - but I wouldn't call it abuse.

Tina, My main character is female and she does grow and change in Iran. And this is a book geered to a female audience, so I guess I'll stick with Women's Fiction. Thanks for the advice.

I have written a novel about a young American forced to grow up on Iran and fight for the right to make her own life choices. I have been wondering whether it is mainstream or literary or should I call it Women's fiction. It is done and I am…

Hi Patricia, I went to your beautiful Website and read your amazing bio and excerpt. I admire how willing you are to share your life story and certainly understand how the call to become a writer was a startling and even frightening revelation. I don't know if you're reading the other posts here, but just in case you missed it, my subject matter of my novel is childhood abuse--a story told from the point of view of the 12 year old child in third person. If you're still interested, let me know and I'll contact you through your site. The Best, jd
