Funny Women

I want to encourage women to submit to humor venues. I urge you; I implore you. Let’s start a revolution and change the world’s mind about who’s funny. Your heart will swell with accomplishment and your breasts will become larger. This I promise.

How to Be a Daughter

Begin by staring up into that face, the face of your mother. Believe that she is the sun, the source of light, and life itself.Believe that face exits only for you, a person of your very own, put on earth to serve your slightest whim, apply a balm to every wound.Keep this going for several years. As you grow, there will come a time when you begin to see yourself through the eyes of others, not just through your own, or through your mother's. One of the things I love about that moment is that the whole world (well, except the Chinese government, maybe) felt that it was a joint accomplishment, "we did it" meaning not just the U.S., but ... people? ... humanity? It's a lovely thing to watch the film clips from around the world after the landing. People cheering everywhere. Would like we could find another moment like that now, to bring us all together.

Funny (and delighted!) to hear people talking about The Wednesday Sisters! That makes my day.
