I can't believe it is. But I've recently received a rejection that said they are very hard to sell. I've also been told that moms don't read them very much. Now the good news is that the agent asked…Continue

"Julie, I totally agree. And no, the agent was a woman. Not sure if she has kids, though. I just can't believe that memoirs by moms will only sell if they are written by a celebrity. Good luck to you, too!"

I’ve been trying to decide for a while now how I will celebrate the day my (currently non-existent) agent calls me with the incredibly fantastical awesome news that I have a book deal. It’s much like the fantasy normal people have about how they will spend their fortunes the day they hit it big with the lottery, except the ticket is a publishing house contract with my name on it.I could buy an(other) expensive purse. As in, not in the clearance section at Target. (Not gonna happen.)I could go…See More

Profile Information

Who I am:
I am wife to The Husband, mother to “Buttercup,” and have decided that it’s time to make peace with her cellulite after moving to the desert from Michigan where it’s always construction season.

I spent the first two years of my daughter’s life wishing the pregnancy weight off before getting serious, joining a gym, hiring a nutritionist, and jumping into social media full-force with my www.aspiringmama.com blog and twitter accounts (@pauline_campos, @baby_fphat and @aspiringmama) because I have an almost OCD-like tendency to multi-task while working on my writing projects.

I have always known I was going to be a writer and finally got tired of hearing The Husband ask when I was going to make him rich, so I stopped dreaming and started doing.

I got started in newspapers and served as city editor for a few local papers before hitting the big time at The Detroit News and freelancing for the Metro-Detroit based Metro Parent Magazine before taking a break after baby.
Books I've written, anthologies I've contributed to, and any scripts or plays I've authored:
Baby F(Ph)at: Adventures in Motherhood, Weight Loss, and Trying to Stay Sane.
Media outlets that I currently write for:
I blog weekly for www.bookieboo.ning.com, a fitness support site that has been featured in national publications such as Shape Magazine.

I also have had blog posts featured on www.owningpink.com, www.waitingfortheclick.com, www.rockonmommies, and www.workoutmommy.com.
My writing is:
Nonfiction, Memoir, Blog Posts

The Husband and I like a good deal. I hunt for them in the clothing and shoe racks, mainly for Buttercup, which only makes him roll his eyes when I come home with a truckload of bags bragging about how much money I just saved him. He hunts for them on sites like Deal News and drools over anything…

Hi Pauline.  Loved your blog post, and would love to know where you/your husband found those books!

I also went to your blog.  I am an older mother (my kids are in college) and it took me a LONG time to get the weight off.  And the sad news is that as you get older it gets harder and harder.  So you're right to work on it now.  My advice:  Pilates.  I love it and it has really worked for me.

I will check in from time to time to see how you're doing.  Loved the blogs!  Hope you check mine out at some point too.  I am an educational school psychologist and write about parenting.  I would love your input!

Good luck with the weight loss - for me it is a never ending battle!
