- Who I am:
- A displaced southerner who currently lives in Chicago but can't wait to take my rightful place back in the south in a few years. Began writing early in life. I got a creative writing and communications degree from Winthrop college in 1981. I married an older man and ending up moving to Pittsburgh and then Chicago. I lost my heart for writing as the north depressed me. I did not find the inspiration of the south and my years of growing up there in the north. We now are within 3 years of moving back to Charleston and the inspiration is flowing. I want to begi my writing career again but need direction and support.

This is the first step to starting writing after 12 years of depression. Please tell me what you think!!!!
Feelings of Smallness
The neighbor lady peers around the wooden fence separating our patios.
She asks if I have planted anything this summer,
All the while watering her numerous beds of growth.
I show her my three tomato plants, proud of my new found accomplishment.
They are Heavy with blooms and baby green fruits.
She smiles…
