Who I am:
Petra Kidd is an author who lives in Norfolk UK.
I e-published The Eight of Swords on New Year's Day as I thought it would be a good way to start 2012! It's a short story and I've just written a sequel to it which will be published this month.

In between writing short stories I am rewriting my novel which has the working title Fish.

I also run a small business and am in a great group called NorRaceChicks where we run, walk and socialise together and take part in various challenges to raise money for charity and just to have fun.

An introduction to my e-book The Eight of Swords

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 9:53am 0 Comments

I wrote The Eight of Swords towards the end of last year.  It was a story burning a hole in my head from the very moment I had the idea.  I'm not a patient soul so despite the fact I'm supposed to be rewriting a novel I wrote years ago, I started on the short story idea as soon as I had some spare time.

It turned out well, so I decided to give it a go as an e-book and published it via Amazon…

This is my first blog post here and it's going to be short and sweet.  I sat down to write this morning and then remembered I needed to get my profile page up and running on She Writes so have been preoccupied with that instead.

Every day something crops up and writing gets delayed, I need better time management.  Having said that, the things that crop up are important and are mostly to do with marketing/promoting my new e-book The Eight of Swords.

Hi Petra. Love your name! I'm not dedicated to being published as an entrepreneur, but I'm not necessarily opposed to the idea. I'm wondering how writers who self-publish assure themselves that their work is up to par, so to speak? Did you hire (any of you who are reading this) an editor, have folks critique for you, etc, before deciding your work was ready for epublishing?

I'm a recent addition to She Writes, too. Keep me in mind as you find good stuff on the site!
