Everyone has a story. It's one of the aspects of life that I love and the fuel that compels me to write. Thank you to everyone involved for sharing these moving experiences.

Thanks for the amazing stories. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? I love how each of these people have embarked on new lives.

Elaine, that's fabulous!  Writing and painting are excellent pursuits for any chapter, but especially for the "encore" stage!

Apparently, I was ahead of my time when it comes to reinvention.

We live in a world where everything is in flux -- jobs, families, life stages.  People have joked for years that 50 is the new 30, but in these times, there's some truth to…

Joanne, don't want to miss you at Blogher -- when do you have time?? I'm doing a panel on Saturday on the changing nature of publishing (wouldn't be surprised if you were doing a panel, too), but am free otherwise and it would be wonderful to meet. email me at kamy@shewrites.com

Warm best,
Kamy

Hi there -- just wanted to drop by your page and invite you personally (or at least virtually) to our first-ever She Writes Washington D.C. meetup, celebrating our first-anniversary! We are so grateful to the event's organizer, Ananda Leeke, for taking a risk and stepping up to host. I hope you will support her and bring yourself and other women who write (no need for them to be members) to the Washington D.C. gathering. At the meetup writers will take part in the She Writes "Book Communion," where attendees arrive with one book, their own or another She Writers', new or gently used, and leave with another book as a meaningfully way to support one another's work. We will also be blowing out a candle and making a wish for our upcoming writing year -- along with She Writers gathering in 16 cities around the country. I hope you will be part of this historic (well, at least kind of cool) occasion, and RSVP now to Ananda here.

Hi! Deborah forwarded me the email about the panel for SXSW that you are doing with Veronica, and of course I voted yes! (Having just attended my first Blogher conference, I was instantly sympathetic to the concept.) You should post it to some of the groups here on SheWrites (blogging group is almost 500 women) and get them to log on and vote too...
