Profile Information

Who I am:
I am a Registered Dental Hygienist, wife of an amazing human being and mother of two best cats in the world. I was born in New Delhi, India and at 11 years of age, migrated to Vancouver, Canada with my family which was home for next 15 years. After moving to my third country/home- Washington DC, in 2003, I have had the opportunity to get involved in a variety of projects. Being exposed to so many different cultures and surroundings has helped guide me to be the person I am today. I am an advocate for equal respect and rights for women all around the world and dream of the day when all women are free globally.

In July 2010, I had a life altering opportunity to be part of a global outreach project through my dental college- Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC). Allied dental and health professionals, including myself traveled to the rural parts of Ghana, West Africa for 2 weeks and provided the impoverished indigenous population with dental treatment and education. I received so much back from that trip and feel extremely fortunate to have had the chance to grow as a person as well as give to the global community.

Since then I have joined the amazing team of Projecthealthysmile.org as a program director and organized fundraising events for the organization.

I am counselor, therapist and an educator everyday to my patients. I have a passion for writing with the intention of helping others through tough times. I want to write about my experiences and lessons in hope that others can relate and find inspiration to grow. In addition, my blogs reflect my intention of education and counseling through daily tips/advice regarding mental, physical, dental health.

Why I am writing?

Posted on December 3, 2011 at 2:10pm 0 Comments

As I was sipping my Indian tea this morning, I started thinking! Why am I blogging? Where did this desire to put my thoughts out there came from?

My realization!

I am blogging as a way of self therapy. Most of us are too busy to get professional help aka: ear to vent to or discuss our internal turmoils with. Writing is my way of dealing with my day to day quandaries.

I also think that other people in my life are probably feeling the same way- if only there was a quick…

I Woke Up in Harlem
