Hey Ramona, Just checking in to see how you're doing now that it's spring! How is your work going? Anything you want to chat about with a bunch of southern women over at the Southern Writers Group? Anything new and exciting to tell? Best,…
Ramona I do hope the group gets the spark of kids writing aflame again! I must admit there are times that it gets a tad dim but it's keeping inspired by like minded people that helps us keep going.
Thank you for the welcome, Svetlana. I've written for the juvenile audience in the past, but got away from it. I have some new ideas now and would like to get back into the children's mindset. Maybe this group will help.

Trouble juggling your subplots? Finding yourself creating a character's mother that too closely resembles, uh, yours? Deadline looming and you're only on chapter three? Here's a forum for novelists and short-story writers.
I have an additional question, for the displaced or ex-pat Southerners. Do you set your work in the south? Is it easier or harder to write when you're away? I've written stories set in both real or fictional Louisiana towns and find it…
Good question, Nicky. I'm game. I love Kaye Gibbons' work, and right now I am very much enjoying "Nora Jane: A Life In Stories" by Ellen Gilchrist...I have not read The Untidy Pilgrim, but it goes on my TRB list now.

I heard from a writing friend that the Chestnut Hill Book Fest was a great success. Wish I'd gone!
Kamy, I am envious.
I read "After" with a high school book group and led a very lively discussion about the novel. Some of the students were frustrated by not knowing exactly what happened to the kids who disappeared from the school and…
Thanks for the welcome, Melissa. I wish I was a little closer to Philly; this area has so many writing events and opportunities.

LOVE has been on my mind the past few days. Maybe because it's valentines day... maybe not. I just want you guys to know what love means. Real love, not the fake marketing kind. So, I've spent the last few days trying to define love for you, not…See More
Cris, I started writing when I finally believed in myself enough and allowed my voice to emerge and trust the process. The piece I'm working on is a one-woman show about mental illness and it was bubbling under the surface for years. It was…
