Thank you for coming along vicariously. And fingers crossed for the agents!

Hi Rebecca!

Oh my word, I didn't even see this comment until now. I've been a little absent on SheWrites (and now that I'm looking at your wall, I'm seeing you post your blogs here...I never even thought about doing that, how smart!). What's the news on the agent? Or agents? Crossing fingers! :) That's exciting!

I'm working on my last edit of Kyresa—I actually gave up on the editor I was going to work with because she was a little heavy-handed (read: Eva's voice didn't feel like Eva's voice) and really slow. So I'm giving it a whirl by myself one last time with some suggestions from a couple pals, taking a deep breath, crossing my fingers and toes, and sending her out into the wilderness to try and find an agent. We shall see what happens...I'm hoping to finish the edit in the next month.

Loving your blog posts and being connected to you on WP, Miss. :)

I've also been doing the Mom thing, coupled with massive spring cleaning because I JUST CAN'T LIVE THIS WAY ANYMORE.  ;)  Too many (unfinished) projects, so I'm knuckling down and getting them done.  "Knuckling down" - I don't think I've ever used that term in writing before.  It looks wrong... but it feels exactly right...

On the writing front, I've been working steadily on the second draft of my novel.  There's a research hole I need to plug, so I've been doing a lot of reading and reworking, and I just realized something about my villain's backstory that I'm going to need to clarify.  This whole writing in another time period thing (Victorian, in my case) - huh.  Not sure it was the smartest decision.  But I had no choice, this is the story that wanted to be written.

Finally, it's the beginning of pitching/staffing season out here in LA, so my pitch consulting work is getting very busy.  Which I love, it's so much fun.  It's just a question of keeping all the balls in the air through the summer.

Good luck with the agents!  What do you tutor in at your daughters' school?  I help out with math.

Cheers -- Laura

Hey Rebecca!

That's terrific.  I hope those requests go well. I'm busy revising two novels, "Paladin Honor" and "The Snow Lion of Rset."  I hope to get queries out on "Paladin Honor" sometime next month, but have been too busy to get around to it so far.  I've also been marketing my indie book "A School for Villains" with a free promotion on Amazon.

Hope all your writing goes well!

PS It's said Ar-dith Dee Brian (like the first name)

HI Rebecca, Thanks for your update and I wish you the best of luck with your search for an agent. As for me, I just finished my semester teaching and have some exams to grade and then prep for a guest lecturer gig at a university in Mexico in June and July. Then I'll have the rest of the summer (I hope I hope!) to finish my book (comedy travelogue - two girls on the road, inspecting B&Bs all over France). And I recently started writing snarky, leftist political rants at Wonkette (DC gossip site).

Rebecca,

Wow, that's great that you have two agents interested in reading your book. That's awesome and exciting! I hope you hear something soon. I'll think good thoughts!

Most of my writing of late has been on my blog and in my job (newspaper). I love blogging--the writing and the connections--but I'm realizing that I'm letting it eat into my "other" writing---memoir and essays. I am working to find a balance. Any suggestions?

I did my first guest blogging gig this week--that was fun! And I'm working on my second book review.

Thank you for touching base. Let me hear how things go!

Hi Rebecca!

Congrats on the agents review and best of luck! Hope you get an awesome contract with a your dream agent.

I currently have about 16 agents with my manuscript --Young Adult Novel, historical fiction multicultural magical realism-- under review. 7 of those are reading the full manuscript and 9 have partials.

Not feeling terribly optimistic.

I have about 60-70 queries sent--waiting to hear from them. though~ Also--getting reading to upload my e-book adult southern-goth, by the end of this month~

Thanks for asking!

This entertained me so much that I felt the need to share it with you.  I will preface it only with a brief political snippet.

On May 8th, in the state of North Carolina, there will be on the ballot a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment that would define marriage in our state as the legal union between one man and one woman.  There are signs up all over the place either promoting or denouncing this amendment.  In fact, one entire church denomination has…
