A mother and a daughter, a sister, a student, an employee. I'm interested in Critical Race Theory and Psychology. I'd like for CRT and Psych to leave the confines of the Ivory Tower and have a chat.

How will we come undone?

the knot

un-looping itself

fingers un-locking

embraces turned inside out

as if we are making

How will we…

secure your bones

Your efficient organs

puzzled together

Use my teeth to crack open

Your chest

In pursuit of your heart

Broken, irregular, scarred

Your brittle ribs

Shatter between my teeth and

Bring…

What I Save

What I Save

Every cork from every bottle of wine I drink

The soft purple of jacaranda blooms

My brother's pointed fist in my shoulder when we were small

My father's legs as we stand in the push and pull of the Pacific Ocean

Every word my mother has every spoken

I save dimes, rings given to me by old lovers, books and wild sage picked my daughters hands

Recipes for chocolate…

live life out loud

unless you're a politician

or a corporate muckety-muck

or just shy

and even if you are just shy

find a way to live out loud

like

pissing your name in the snow

or

driving topless

on a road trip

nips to the wind

because life is good that way

and people will assume…
