UNDERSTANDING THE ANXIOUS MIND
Fantastic article Robin! There were so many wonderful sections, and everytime I thought, but what about..? you answered my question in the next paragraph. Thinking of physics (as is my wont)-- Schrodinger's Cat and the uncertaintly principle--I wondered about what effect the experiments themselves were having on the high-reactives (when I was a child we were just called "sensitive" or rather, "too sensitive") so I was very interested in what Robert Plomin had to say. I especially loved your ending. I'm sure most writers (and third children) are "high reactives" and I am always intrigued by the strange ways I come up with to circumnavigate my hypochondria, agoraphobia, etc. etc. but mostly I deal with it by getting lost in an imaginary world that is not exactly my own--art. Brava.

Thanks so much for letting me know that about Writing Past Dark! It made me feel so good. I've thought so much about the topic of writers and envy, and also about ways that writers unconsciously subvert themselves. When I'm done with the novel I'm working on -- which I dearly hope is soon!!!! -- I plan to write more on that topic. What are you working on now? Isn't the salon great? -- B .
