We all go to cafès and several other places which almost come to terms with the fact that they serve the same purpose as a cafè but are called with thousand other names. I request you all to share an…

i see now why you had problems finding the blog. i told you "_" between words and it was supposed to be "-". that's part of the problem with being tired i guess. i have to admit not knowing much about india so when i ask a question, it's not intended as any sort of insult. I simply do not know. my frame of reference is what goes on in the US so you'll have to be patient with me.

the problem with the chat line is that what has been said is lost once we get off. I like to reread things later in order to better understand what was said. i read your 'cafe' article. it was very interesting to me because i never thought of it as a 'culture' but certainly can see where it would be. people in general like to have someplace to go and interact with others. i myself don't do that so it is somewhat foreign to me. i used to though so can appreciate what you're saying.

i have always been told that people learning a new language have problems understanding slang or expressions. is that true? i use expressions a lot so will have to be careful not to if its a problem for you. i look forward to hearing from you again.

November has been busy for me - writing a poem a day at Writers Digest - I facilitate creative writing and write poetry and memoir fragments. Started two years ago with poetry and enjoy reading at open mic in our area. How about you?

Hi Sagarika,

I am pleased to 'meet' you and glad you liked my blog post. I was a little worried that it would make people mad.

As for the industry, I would hope that there would be a growing awareness of gender differences and along with it an awareness that a book written by a women may be different from one written by a man and also have equal merit. It is ridiculous that we are the primary consumers of books and yet our authors are getting slighted in publishing.

I love your quote by Kipling!!

Happy writing!!

Constant Fears, Dilemma And Anxiety Of A Woman Writer Just Beginning To Write, Writing Her Final Thoughts Or Maybe Somewhere In Between…

This is a blog post from my blog-http://sagarikapandey.wordpress.com
I thought I'd post it here as well.
For her letters floated in air, ideas above that and happiness below words. To create, the happiness felt at the thought of writing filled her with excitement and sometimes nothing more than that and several times it was just another element in the mixture of feelings she had. The words picked their own favourites, ideas chosen the way she tho… Continue

Identities Stereotyped

This is a blog post from my blog-http://sagarikapandey.wordpress.com I thought I'd post it here as well.

Today the identities of a person are many and several, both socially and professionally. Identity is something from and through which a person is identified. But what consists and is prioritised in our identity is something to give a thought to.
When a child is admitted in a school the parents help the child to learn up his identity. Identity… Continue

Shakespeare’s seventh age

When I say that a new born is treated with tenderness
Less than few would disagree,
Old age is second childishness,
This, I do not say but is agreed upon by Shakespeare in his seven ages,
The love that is bestowed upon a new child,
If not experienced by all,
Can be felt by all.
But what about old age?
Does it, also not deserve the same love?
And not mere ‘respect’-the thing we now refer to as to describe what some feel about old age or the ones experiencing it,
A little less than all have respec… Continue

Some of the poems I like since forever...

If-By Rudyard Kipling
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream — and not make dreams your master;
If you can think — and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And — which is more — you'll be a Man my son!

Composed upon Westminster Bridge, September 3, 1802
Upon Westminster Bridge-By William Wordsworth'
Earth has not anything to show more fair:
Dull would he be of soul who could pass by
A sight so touching in its majesty:
This city now doth, like a garment wear
The beauty of the morning; silent, bare,
Ships, towers, domes, theatres and temples lie
Open unto the fields and to the sky,
All bright and glittering in the smokeless air.
Never did sun more beautifully steep
In his first splendor, valley, rock or hill;
Ne'er saw I, never felt a calm so deep!
The river glideth at his own sweet will:
Dear God! the very houses seem asleep;
And all that mighty heart is lying still!

I thought the ads with the babies were pretty funny, if only for suggesting the mental age of the creaters of all the ads. I was particularly annoyed at the book club ad, for reasons I mean to blog about if I can only figure them out.
