Thank you for your kind words. I was up most of the night wrestling with myself. I appreciate your advice--especially from someone that has "been there."
This morning I woke in a panic and I e-mailed my adviser to see if there might be other options. I am waiting to hear back.

So sorry for your loss also! You can never be prepared for anyone you love to die but you kind of expect it to be your grand parents; parents etc..never a sibling..If things go as planned the book should be coming out end of summer or early fall..good luck with your thesis..great subject! Did you know that grief was not even considered a mental condition until the 1980's..and the correlation between grief and actual physical sickness is just now being studied..I was amazed by these facts..
