Profile Information

Who I am:
I am me....I live in upstate New York with my husband, ***“partner in parenthood, and accomplice in mischief”**, Jim (chef Bluebeard); our tech-guy, gamer, physics and chemistry and law loving 10-year-old son, Jeremiah; and our bold and daring, fashion, natural disaster, wildlife, and anatomy loving 7-and-a-half year old daughter, Annalise.

I strive to live in joyful harmony with my family and the wider world around us. I learned the importance of being present and living consciously from the death of a fiance in 1995, and our 12-day-old second child, Elijah, in 2003.

I am learning, now, about reconciling an abusive family dynamic with the increasingly peaceful life I live today; about balancing the darker parts of my character with the ideals I hold; and about the nature of compassion and personal strengths.

Now, in my early 40s, I have realized that writing is the thread that weaves through all the other parts of my life. It's my touchstone, my therapy, my path to understanding, my offering to the world.

We're delighted to have you in the novelist group! You might introduce yourself by telling us what you’re working on in the “Show Me Your Novel and I’ll Show You Mine” discussion if you're not too uncomfortable talking about what you're working on. We save the wall for discussion, so please refrain from linking to blog posts there, but do add them in the “Links to Helpful Blog Posts for Writers” discussion thread.

And we do a live chat every Wednesday at 1EST; instructions on how to participate are in the "Our Water Cooler Wednesdays" box near the top of the group page.

Hello Shan!

Thank You for joining my group Blooming Late!

I want to say first of all upon looking at your profile that it is by far one of the most open sharing profile introductions I have ever read! I think you must be a strong dynamic woman and you will fit right in here!

btw, I also have a ten year old son and in my early 40s with a backround of abuse but upon having a near death experience from which I am disabled from today I came out of it with exactly the same understanding of writing that you explain up there. It is ultimately what led me to create this group.

I also looked in on your blog which is clean and elegant in style, very nice! And your flash fiction was remarkable, and yes you should submit it! :)

Please take some time and introduce yourself to the group in our To Kick Things Off discussion as well as list your twitter/Fb handle immediately in the pages section on the left hand side of the group page so that everyone in there can hook up with you in them. Also list that great blog of your in there.

Right now we are beginning a groundbreaking project of connecting with every single member in here by friending as well as in our Facebook and Twitter sites so that we are connected on all fronts when we begin to launch bool promotions for people in the group who are getting published. It will aslo be a way to further expand your blog audience away from the bubble of friends and other writers and get into the greater web and so as time allows please connect with each member in these social mediums. Like me you may not have an actual book out YET but when we are through with this project promoting a book anyone has out will be a well oiled machine that will literally cover a huge amount of people wot get the word out about it with very little work on anyones part. So it will be ready for when we are ready to promote a book.

And like I said beefore we have a wonderful group of women who I think you will find are a great source of support, encouragement and inspiration for writing. They are from all over the world and various walks of life writing uncer every genre and in all levels of the writing life.

Make sure to have your email setting so you can recieve emails from our group please but you dont have to follow anything else unless you want to so as not to get overwhelmed. We have many discussions and pages to browse and participate in and add to that can inspire and help your writing and I hope that you will ultimately find your writing home with us!

I am glad you are here and WELCOME to our group!
